Cincinnati Animal CARE serves more than 9,000 animals each year as Hamilton County’s open-intake, no-kill animal shelter. As the county’s animal services provider, tax dollars cover only the first 72 hours of a dog’s care. Everything beyond that, including our entire cat care program, is sustained through the generosity of people like you!
So far in 2025, we have:
- Taken in 8,668 animals
- Adopted out 5,630 animals
- Sent 8,134 animals to foster homes
- Reunited 1,153 animals with their owners
- And completed 3,917 spay/neuter surgeries on-site!
- Invested $1.64 million in lifesaving medical care
Your donations make a direct and lifesaving impact every single day. They fund:
- Medical care ranging from daily wellness exams and vaccinations to life-saving emergency surgeries for animals hit by cars or suffering from severe injuries.
- Preventative care, including up-to-date vaccines, boosters, and monthly flea, tick, and heartworm treatments for 500+ dogs in our care at any given time, plus essential care for cats and community cats throughout Hamilton County.
- Behavior and training support that equips dogs with the skills and confidence to succeed in their forever homes, from basic obedience to hands-on guidance for more complex behavioral needs.
- Enrichment and well-being programs that keep shelter animals active, healthy, and happy, including daily playgroups, kennel enrichment, and field trips that provide mental stimulation and socialization for dogs who may wait months for adoption.
