They’re Safe for Now. But They Still Need Us

Eight months ago, this community showed up in a powerful way for a group of horses who urgently needed help. Leading that effort was Fighting Chance Rescue, who opened their doors - and their hearts - to provide boarding and critical care to 18 horses in protective custody. Because of their commitment, and the generosity of this community, these horses have been given the chance to stabilize, recover, and experience consistent, compassionate care.

Today, we’re asking you to show up for them again.

The legal process is ongoing, and an appeal is currently underway following the recent court ruling that limits how certain evidence may be used. Throughout this process, we continue to work collaboratively toward a resolution that prioritizes the horses’ well-being. For now, they remain in the care of Fighting Chance Rescue, but their long-term future is still being determined.

What hasn’t changed is this:

They still need care - every single day.

Since their intake, there has been no court-ordered reimbursement for their care. That means the burden of the full cost for their care - including medical treatment, specialized nutrition, farrier services, daily care, ongoing rehabilitation and full-care boarding - has been carried by Fighting Chance Rescue, with support from donors like you.

And the need has been significant.

These horses arrived in very poor condition and required immediate, intensive support. Since August 12, 2025, Fighting Chance Rescue has gone above and beyond to meet those needs - through complex recoveries, long-term rehabilitation, and the uncertainty that comes with an active legal case.

They have said “yes” to these horses every step of the way.

Now they need us to say “yes” to them.

We are working to raise $35,000 to help offset the continued cost of care while the legal process moves forward. Your support will help ensure these horses continue to receive the treatment, safety, and dignity they deserve, no matter what comes next.
