Right now, approximately 150 animals are counting on Cincinnati Animal CARE, and they need our community behind them.

On the evening of Wednesday, August 12th, Cincinnati Animal CARE responded to a Westwood home following concerns about the welfare of animals on the property. What our team found was far more than expected. Approximately 150 animals were removed and brought into our care. This is the largest single animal seizure in Cincinnati Animal CARE’s history.

The animals include dogs, cats, rats, rabbits, reptiles, chickens, a goose, and a turkey. Our team worked late into the evening to safely remove as many animals as possible, and efforts are continuing to locate and safely bring in the remaining cats.

Now, the work of caring for them begins.

Every animal arriving at Cincinnati Animal CARE receives the basics they deserve: a safe place to rest, clean food and water, and compassionate care.

But caring for approximately 150 animals at once creates extraordinary needs.

Our medical team is examining each animal and assessing their individual needs. Initial concerns include fleas, mites, and upper respiratory illness. Many will need veterinary care, medications, treatment, food, bedding, cleaning supplies, and specialized housing.

And because these animals arrived all at once, those needs are being felt across the shelter immediately.
